PRFC Calls on Community Support Amid Pause in November SNAP Benefits

October 21, 2025, DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — Piscataquis Regional Food Center (PRFC) is urgently calling upon the community to help ensure that no one in our region goes without food, as it appears that November SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits will not be issued at this time.

“75% of our region is living at or below the poverty level, and many of our neighbors rely on SNAP to feed their families,” said Kelly Sirimoglu, Executive Director of PRFC. “A gap in benefits means many households will struggle to put food on the table. We are doing everything we can to respond, but we can’t do it alone.”

PRFC and the Food Center will continue to serve any Piscataquis County resident in need of food assistance. To schedule a shopping appointment, call (207) 802-8230.

Community support is urgently needed to help bridge the gap left by the pause in benefits. The most-needed food items include:

  • Breakfast cereals

  • Hearty soups

  • Canned meals

  • Pasta

  • Canned vegetables and fruit

  • Canned meats and fish

Donations of non-expired food can be dropped off at any time in the Donation Monster, located at PRFC’s lower-level entrance, 76 North Street, Dover-Foxcroft (accessible 24/7).

Those wishing to make a financial contribution to help purchase food and support ongoing distribution efforts can visit www.prfoodcenter.org.

“Together, we can make sure no one in Piscataquis goes hungry,” Sirimoglu said. “Your generosity, whether through food or funds, will help feed families through this difficult time.”
