PRFC Rallies Community to Put Thanksgiving on 350 Family Tables

Organization Invites Area Businesses and Volunteers to Join Thanksgiving Distribution on November 18th
Dover-Foxcroft, Maine — A turkey in the oven. Favorite side dishes. A place at the table. These familiar comforts can mean so much, especially when life feels uncertain.
This Thanksgiving, the Piscataquis Regional Food Center (PRFC) is asking the community to help bring those comforts to 350 Piscataquis County households through its annual Thanksgiving Drive-Through Distribution on Wednesday, November 18, from 9:00 a.m. to Noon, at 76 North Street in Dover-Foxcroft.
For many local families, the cost of a holiday meal comes on top of already difficult decisions about groceries, heating, transportation, and other essentials. PRFC’s Thanksgiving distribution helps ease that pressure, giving neighbors the opportunity to prepare a meal, gather with loved ones, and enjoy their own holiday traditions.
“Food is such a big part of how we celebrate and care for one another,” said Kelly Sirimoglu, PRFC Executive Director. “We want our neighbors to have the comfort of knowing there will be a Thanksgiving meal on the table, without wondering what they’ll have to go without to make it happen.”
There are several ways to help:
Buy a Bird: A $25 donation helps provide a turkey for a local household. Gifts of any size support Thanksgiving food and distribution costs. Donate at ww.prfoodcenter.org/thanksgiving.
Donate a frozen turkey: Donations are welcome Monday–Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., at PRFC.
Help pack: Volunteers are needed on Monday, November 16, to prepare Thanksgiving food boxes.
Help distribute: Volunteers are needed on Wednesday, November 18, to work outdoors loading groceries into vehicles during the drive-through distribution.
PRFC’s goal is to provide a turkey for every participating household. Donations of frozen turkeys and funds will be essential to reaching that goal.
“Whether you contribute a turkey, give $25, or spend a few hours volunteering, you’re helping a neighbor celebrate with a little less worry and a little more joy,’” added Sirimoglu.“
