NEW GROUP FORMS TO HELP PISCATAQUIS RESIDENTS ACCESS HEALTHY FOOD

Dover Foxcroft, ME – July 3, 2024  Next week, the Piscataquis Food Access Alliance is holding its first public meeting in Dover Foxcroft. The PFAA is Piscataquis County's new food council, and part of the Maine Network of Community Food Councils. The public is invited to attend the meeting on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Central Hall Common, in Dover Foxcroft, from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm. Any member of the community who is interested in creating greater food access in Piscataquis County is invited to attend and join the PFAA.

Launched in January, the PFAA continues conversations in our community about food security, gleaning, and combatting the stigma surrounding food assistance. Founding members include Piscataquis Regional Food Center, Northern Light Health, Eastern Area Agency on Aging, The University of Maine Cooperative Extension, Dyer’s Hope House, UUC Sangerville, Good Shepherd Food Bank, Thompson Free Library, and Helping Hands with Heart.
