DOVER-FOXCROFT, ME — Tomorrow morning, many families in Maine will wake up unsure how they will feed themselves and their loved ones. To help, the Piscataquis Regional Food Center (PRFC) is launching Bridge the Gap Fridays, offering free access to healthy food for Piscataquis residents impacted by the SNAP benefit freeze.
Every Friday in November (except Nov. 28), from 2–4 p.m., PRFC will open a simplified marketplace featuring:
Shelf-stable staples like canned goods, pasta, rice, and protein
Fresh, local produce
No appointment or paperwork is needed; guests simply show their EBT card. Bridge the Gap Fridays serves any Piscataquis resident in need, including those not yet shopping at the Food Center and those looking to supplement their regular Food Center visits.
“Bridge the Gap Fridays is about making sure no one in our community goes hungry while SNAP benefits are on hold,” said Kelly Sirimoglu, PRFC Executive Director. “We want everyone to know they can come to PRFC and leave with food for themselves and their families, no questions asked, with dignity and respect.”
Event Details:
When: Fridays, Nov. 7, 14, 21 — 2–4 p.m. (skip Nov. 28)
Where: PRFC Marketplace, Dover-Foxcroft (indoors)
Who: Piscataquis residents
PRFC urges neighbors, friends, and partner organizations to help spread the word so everyone who needs support knows it is available.
