Here at PR Food Center we're reflecting back on this past Dexter Mobile Food Cupboard sponsored by the Northern Light Mayo Hospital.
Running short on food boxes this month was unexpected, as the boxes accounted for mirrored the amount distributed last month. Those that were unable to pick up food boxes were encouraged to attend the special distribution this coming Wednesday October 28th from 1-pm at the Piscataquis County Ice Arena in Dover-Foxcroft.
Steve's observation was that, "Word seems to be spreading wider. More towns were represented in larger numbers than prior distributions. More vehicles asking for multiple households showed up".
And as Erin said very matter-of-factly, "Next time, we make more boxes."
Solutions to solving hunger are multi-faceted, especially during these times. Here at PR Food Center, we are grateful to volunteers that helped pack the food boxes and distribute them the day-of, our partnership with Good Shepherd Food Bank, and the strong network of collaborators in Dexter that made this type of assistance possible to so many families.
