Meet Kazia!

Hello! I'm Kazia Knepp, the new Community Food Services Coordinator at Piscataquis Regional Food Center. I am so excited to be a part of the PRFC team, increasing food access and education throughout the region!

I live in Dover-Foxcroft with my husband, Jon, and two sons: Cooper, 10, and Andy, 7. We are recent transplants from Central Pennsylvania. We moved to the area in late November 2020, when my husband accepted the position of Library Director at Thompson Free Library. We love this postcard town and I often gasp in awe at the beauty of rural Piscataquis County! One of the first things I noticed about this community was a generous collaborative spirit and I hope I can contribute to that movement.

I have a Bachelor's degree in English from Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pa. After college, I lived briefly in Boston, attending Emerson College and working at an adult basic education center in Southie. While living in Boston, my husband and I were able to get away to Maine often and our love for this place was ignited! After we realized that we were not meant to live in a city, we moved back to Pennsylvania to start a family. In the last decade, I have worked as a newspaper reporter and photographer, a stay at home parent, and a document specialist.

In my free time, I enjoy making crafts and reading books with my children. I also like writing poetry and short fiction, reading, sewing, and cross-stitching, refinishing furniture, and painting and repainting my quirky old house. On weekends, you can find my family exploring Piscataquis County and beyond (and we would love to hear your suggestions for our "Adventure List")!
