It Takes a Caring Group to Make a Community

Erin Callaway, Executive Director of PRFC, and Theresa Makowski, Goodwill Americorps VISTA serving at PRFC were invited to a lunch at the Congregational Church in Dover-Foxcroft to accept a $250 donation from Care & Comfort on Tuesday December 4th.

Care & Comfort is a Maine owned and operated business providing home health and behavioral health services in 13 Maine counties since 1991. As part of its mission, the company is committed to strengthening the well being, quality of life and vitality of the communities it serves. To that end, Care & Comfort gives generously to non-profit organizations every year. On Fridays, C&C staff is able to dress down by paying into a fund which is donated to a community organization twice a year. This year the Dover-Foxcroft staff chose PRFC as their winter recipient. Care & Comfort's home office then matched the money raised by its employees.

After the presentation, we asked some of the staff why they chose PRFC. They told us many of their clients use programs that we support and wanted to be able impact as many people in as many communities as possible with their donation. We were thrilled to hear they understand the value in what PRFC is doing to help everyone in the Piscataquis region get better access to the food they need to thrive. We look forward to sharing how we utilize Care & Comfort's generous donation. You might be surprised how much impact can be made by wearing jeans on Friday's!
